About SCA

Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is among the leading causes of death in the world.

One of the causes of SCA is ventricular fibrillation (VF), a condition where the heart beats in an abnormal rhythm and is unable to pump blood throughout the body.

Electric shock, or defibrillation, is currently the only known treatment to revert a troubled heart from VF to its normal rhythm.

The survival rate decreases by 7-10% for every minute that passes, and if left untreated, the victim will die within minutes.

Our AED takes less than 15 seconds from turning the power on to discharge. The faster charging time helps deliver energy quickly when VF is observed.

What is an AED?

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that analyzes heart rhythm and delivers a shock when necessary to help restore a normal heartbeat during Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Usage Steps

How to Use ZOLL AED 3®

1

Turn On the ZOLL AED 3

When the AED arrives, press the power button to turn on the device.

The ZOLL AED 3 will immediately begin providing voice prompts and visual instructions through its full-color display.

Remain calm and follow the instructions provided by the device throughout the rescue process.

2

Apply the CPR Uni-padz®

Remove the pre-connected CPR Uni-padz® from the package and apply them according to the illustrations shown on the pads.

Place one electrode on the upper right side of the chest below the collarbone and the second electrode on the lower left side of the chest below the armpit.

Press firmly to ensure complete contact with the skin.

Select Child Mode if Required

For adult patients, no additional selection is necessary.

If the patient is a child under 8 years of age, activate Child Mode by pressing the pediatric selection button on the AED.

The device will automatically adjust the energy level and provide pediatric rescue guidance while using the same CPR Uni-padz® electrodes.

3

Allow the AED to Analyze the Heart Rhythm

Once the pads are attached, the ZOLL AED 3 automatically begins analyzing the patient's heart rhythm.

During this process, ensure that nobody is touching the patient.

The device uses RapidShock™ Analysis technology to quickly determine whether a shock is required and will provide clear instructions based on the analysis results.

4

Deliver a Shock if Advised

If the AED detects a shockable rhythm such as ventricular fibrillation, it will indicate that a shock is advised.

The shock button will begin flashing.

Ensure that everyone is clear of the patient and loudly announce "Stand Clear."

After confirming that no one is touching the patient, press the flashing shock button to deliver the defibrillation shock.

5

Perform CPR with Real CPR Help®

The ZOLL AED 3 features Real CPR Help®, which provides real-time feedback on compression rate and depth.

As CPR is performed, the device displays a CPR dashboard and may provide prompts such as "Push Harder" or "Good Compressions" to help maintain effective CPR.

Continue performing chest compressions according to the AED's guidance and metronome.

AED 3 Step 5
6

Continue CPR as Guided by the AED

The AED provides a metronome and voice prompts to help maintain the correct compression rate.

Continue performing CPR according to the AED's instructions until the device prompts you to stop for another rhythm analysis.

7

Allow Re-analysis and Follow Further Instructions

After a period of 2 minutes, the AED will automatically instruct rescuers to stop compressions while it re-analyses the patient's heart rhythm.

If another shock is required, the device will guide you through the shock delivery process again.

If no shock is advised, immediately resume CPR.

Continue following all prompts provided by the AED.

8

Continue the Rescue Until Help Arrives

Repeat the cycle of rhythm analysis, shock delivery when indicated, and CPR until emergency medical personnel arrive and take over care.

If the patient regains normal breathing or responsiveness, place them in the recovery position if appropriate while continuing to monitor their condition until medical help arrives.

The ZOLL AED 3 is designed to support both trained and untrained responders by providing intuitive guidance, RapidShock™ Analysis, and real-time CPR feedback, helping improve survival outcomes during Sudden Cardiac Arrest emergencies.

Why Every Workplace Needs an AED

Early defibrillation significantly improves survival rates during Sudden Cardiac Arrest. AEDs provide a critical link in the chain of survival until emergency medical services arrive.
