About SCA

Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is among the leading causes of death in the world.

One of the causes of SCA is ventricular fibrillation (VF), a condition where the heart beats in an abnormal rhythm and is unable to pump blood throughout the body.

Electric shock, or defibrillation, is currently the only known treatment to revert a troubled heart from VF to its normal rhythm.

The survival rate decreases by 7-10% for every minute that passes, and if left untreated, the victim will die within minutes.

Our AED takes less than 15 seconds from turning the power on to discharge. The faster charging time helps deliver energy quickly when VF is observed.

What is an AED?

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that analyzes heart rhythm and delivers a shock when necessary to help restore a normal heartbeat during Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Usage Steps

How to Use ZOLL AED Plus®

1

Turn On the ZOLL AED Plus

Press the power button to turn on the device. The AED will immediately begin providing clear voice prompts and visual instructions to guide you through the rescue process.

Remain calm and carefully follow each instruction provided by the device.

AED Plus Step 1
2

Apply the CPR-D-padz®

The ZOLL AED Plus utilizes a one-piece CPR-D-padz® electrode system designed for rapid and accurate placement.

Remove the electrode package and unfold the pad according to the illustrations.

Place the upper portion of the pad on the upper right side of the patient's chest and position the lower portion on the lower left side of the chest below the armpit.

Ensure the pad is firmly attached to the skin and that all sections are making complete contact.

Child Mode

To activate child mode, you must unplug the adult pads and plug in the ZOLL Pedi-padz® II pediatric electrodes. The device automatically senses the pediatric connection right away -no manual configuration required. The AED's voice and text prompts will confirm this by announcing that pediatric pads are connected.

3

Allow the AED to Analyze the Heart Rhythm

Once the CPR-D-padz® are properly connected and applied, the AED will automatically begin analysing the patient's heart rhythm.

During this process, ensure that nobody is touching the patient.

The ZOLL AED Plus will determine whether a shockable rhythm is present and provide instructions based on the analysis results.

AED Plus Step 3
4

Deliver a Shock if Advised

If the AED detects a shockable rhythm such as ventricular fibrillation, it will indicate that a shock is advised. The shock button will begin flashing.

Ensure that everyone is clear of the patient and loudly announce "Stand Clear."

After confirming that no one is touching the patient, press the flashing shock button to deliver the defibrillation shock.

5

Perform CPR with Real CPR Help®

One of the key features of the ZOLL AED Plus is its Real CPR Help® technology. The CPR-D-padz® contain a sensor that measures chest compressions and provides real-time feedback on compression depth and rate.

During CPR, the AED may announce prompts such as "Push Harder" if compressions are too shallow or "Good Compressions" when CPR is being performed effectively.

This guidance helps rescuers deliver high-quality CPR that meets recommended resuscitation guidelines.

6

Continue CPR as Guided by the AED

The AED provides a metronome and voice prompts to help maintain the correct compression rate.

Continue performing CPR according to the AED's instructions until the device prompts you to stop for another rhythm analysis.

7

Allow Re-analysis and Follow Further Instructions

After a period of 2 minutes , the AED will automatically instruct rescuers to stop compressions while it re-analyzes the patient's heart rhythm

If another shock is required, the device will guide you through the shock delivery process again.

If no shock is advised, immediately resume CPR. Continue following all prompts provided by the AED.

8

Continue the Rescue Until Help Arrives

Repeat the cycle of rhythm analysis, shock delivery when indicated, and CPR until emergency medical personnel arrive and take over care

If the patient regains normal breathing or responsiveness, place them in the recovery position if appropriate while continuing to monitor their condition until medical help arrives.

The ZOLL AED Plus is designed to support both trained and untrained rescuers through a cardiac emergency by combining intuitive voice prompts with Real CPR Help® technology. Its ability to provide real-time CPR feedback helps improve CPR quality and supports better outcomes during Sudden Cardiac Arrest emergencies.

Why Every Workplace Needs an AED

Early defibrillation significantly improves survival rates during Sudden Cardiac Arrest. AEDs provide a critical link in the chain of survival until emergency medical services arrive.
